We are delighted to announce that all of our menus here at The Old Post Office can now easily be accessed by visually impaired people through the revolutionary Good Food Talks web app.
The app has been founded by Matt Wadsworth, registered blind, who claims to have been poorly served by restaurants so far. He said the app makes eating out more enjoyable for visually impaired people, since they don’t have to rely on others reading a menu to them. “Everyone at the table is equal and autonomous, making dining out more dignified, more sociable, and more fun.”
The idea is that whether you are totally blind and use the text-to-speech software or simply need to invert colours or zoom to make things clearer, the app makes ordering in a restaurant much more straight-forward and gives you back independence and control over your experience.
The Good Food Talks app is free and doesn’t have to be downloaded to a phone. By simply visiting the Good Food Talks website you can identify The Old Post Office website and then select our menus. With the accessibility settings of your smart-phone activated, the app will read the names, descriptions and prices of each dish to you.

It's common knowledge that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, and that's why we think the best possible Father's Day gift has to involve food.
Treat him to a hearty full English breakfast and a good strong cup of coffee, the perfect start to the day.
Or why not tuck into a tasty lunch, with a range of succulent steaks, our special sticky beef ribs or our famous pork belly dish... pint of beer optional...
If you can't make it on Father's Day, don't forget we also sell gift vouchers so he can go whenever he likes next time.
Good news - the OPO is having a refurbishment so we can look all brand spanking new again! While we're having our beautiful new '10 years younger' makeover, we will be closed from 5pm on Sunday 19th May until midday on Wednesday 22nd May, where all will be revealed.
Wallingford is gearing up for its very own food and drink festival on Sunday 19th May, and as the most awesome eaterie in town (if we say so ourselves), we will of course be showing off our tasty fayre on the day.
We are working closely with Wallingford Butchers who source all their high quality meat locally, and will be doing a butchery demonstration. We will then be cooking these fine cuts of meat and handing out samples, so come along and taste the difference!
If you'll be stopping for the day, pop into the OPO for one of our famous cocktails and a light lunch, or relax with a coffee and a slice of cake!
Finally, another bank holiday weekend is upon us at the end of March, and Easter is a perfect time to make the most of some time off and to spend more time with friends and family.
From Friday 29th March to 1st April, we'll be offering Easter food specials, with a delicious traditional Sunday roast on Easter Sunday. Bring the children along for some family time, a hot chocolate and a cake should do the trick!
Make the most of an extra few nights of drinking, or relax with a lazy brunch over the long weekend. We'll sort the rest for you.
It's that time of the year again - that perfect opportunity to show your mother your appreciation when it matters most.
That's why we're offering champagne breakfast; for something different that will be the perfect treat, served from 9am to midday on Sunday 10th March.
For the traditionalists, our usual Sunday Roast will hit the spot. With premium 100% British beef from Aubrey Allen, golden roast potatoes, fresh seasonal vegetables, light and crispy Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy, there's nothing not to like.
Our a la carte lunch and dinner menus will also be available throughout the day, and for a fail safe option, our wine list and cocktail menu are always a good option!

You can enjoy two courses for £12 or three courses for £15, Sunday to Thursday 4-7pm.
We thought we'd get a bit fancy this year and launch a new afternoon tea menu for the traditionalists out there, after all, there is nothing wrong with a bit of indulgence every now and then!
Available between 9am and 12noon for a morning coffee and cake sharing platter or between 3pm and 6pm for a more traditional afternoon tea ritual, you can enjoy a selection of fresh sandwiches and cakes with your choice of hot drink, for just £10.95 for two.

"There is no such uncertainty as a sure thing", said Robert Burns.
What is certain is that anyone can join in on Burns Night!
Celebrate the best of Scottish and embrace Burns Night. It's also a Friday night this year so it's an ideal excuse to rid yourself of those January blues and get out and have some fun.
We'll be showcasing some Scottish specials, created by our Head Chef for the occasion, and we'll also be recommending some whiskies for you to try alongside!
If you're stuck for gift ideas, we have the perfect solution for you. Why not buy some Oakman Inns gift vouchers for that special person, which can be redeemed against food and drink at any of our pubs and restaurants.
As we head into the darker, colder months of Winter we have decided to brighten things up a bit with some live music for you to look forward to! Featuring the fantastic Mike Glozier and Nikki Loy, you can join us for a few drinks and some musical talent.
It's the season of parties, and we have no party bigger than New Year's Eve here at the Old Post Office. Join us for a celebration of the end of 2012 and the start of 2013, as we'll be throwing a party in the bar to remember.
The sausage is one of the nation's favourite foods, and we're going to be making the most of this during British Sausage Week. From the 5th to 11th November, our specials board will be adorned with sauasage goodness, as our Head Chefs get creative with some sausage specials.
It's that time of year which allows us to dress up and have a bit of fun, and as the nights start drawing in towards Winter, we think it's perfectly justified to go all out. We're throwing a Halloween party on Friday 2nd November, and it's going to be a blast.
